Arusha park (Cycling & Safari

10 Hours

Overview

Arusha National Park, often called the “Gem of Parks,” is one of the few places in Tanzania where you can explore the wilderness on foot, by canoe, and by bicycle. The cycling safari blends adventure travel with up-close wildlife viewing, making it a perfect fit for active travelers.1. The Combined Cycling & Safari ExperienceThe day tour masterfully integrates the active cycling component with the traditional “safari” element in the following ways:The “Cycling Safari”: This is the main adventure, typically covering 20 to 22 km (12-14 miles) of dirt tracks. You will cycle along designated routes, often starting near Momella Gate. This is a true safari experience as you pedal past wildlife. The Safari Security: For your safety, the cycling portion is always led by an armed TANAPA (Tanzania National Parks Authority) Ranger. This is non-negotiable and allows you to be on the ground in an area with buffalo, giraffes, and other plains animals. The Mobile Safari: A 4×4 support vehicle accompanies the cycling group at all times. This acts as your backup game drive vehicle, providing a safe rest spot, carrying your lunch, and allowing you to hop out of the saddle and continue the safari by car if you get tired or if the terrain becomes too challenging. The Walking Element: Many full-day trips also include a separate short walking safari or a light trek to a scenic point, such as a waterfall or the Momella Lakes shoreline, for a final dimension of immersion
